Provisional Brokers must complete an additional 90 hours of Post-Licensing courses, including 301, 302, and 303, within 18 months of initial licensure to obtain a full NC Broker license.
The Post 301 - Broker Relationships and Responsibilities course is one of three 30-hour classes in North Carolina's mandatory Postlicensing (PL) education program. As per Commission Rule 58A .1902, NC Provisional Brokers must complete at least one PL course each year during the three years following initial licensure to keep their license active. Starting July 1, 2020, this requirement changed to completing all three PL courses within 18 months of licensure. This rule change takes effect immediately on July 1, with no grandfathering period for current licensees. The courses aim to teach topics that go deeper than Prelicensing courses, focusing on areas of particular importance, including:
a review of agency relationships in real estate residential and commercial sales and commercial property management transactions,
a real estate broker’s legal duties to clients and customers,
a step-by-step review and discussion of the functions and responsibilities of a real estate
broker when working with sellers and buyers,
a review of issues associated with transactions in progress when a broker leaves a firm
a review of selected license status and education issues.
