Q. Am I required to live in South Carolina to obtain a SC's real estate license?

A. No! You're not required to be an SC resident to obtain your SC real estate license.

Q. What is the average cost to start my real estate career?

A. The average startup cost is about $3,000 which includes education and membership fees.

Q. I'm a SC resident, do I need to complete NC's CE hours or am I exempted?

A. You're not required to take any NC's CE hours as long as you do not have an NC resident or business address. If you do, then you must complete both states' CE requirements.

Q. Once I get my SC real estate license, how do I get my NC real estate license?

A. You could be dual licensed in a matter of weeks after receiving your SC license. Apply to the NC Real Estate Commission to complete the application process. Remember, you're exempted from taking the NC licensing exam with your SC license.

Q. As a real estate agent, can I purchase or sell my own home in SC?

A. Yes! As an agent, you could sell or buy your own home in South Carolina or North Carolina. In SC, the Commission law requires licensees to disclose their licensed status when a principle or holding interest.
